Overview

The Kaizen Blitz (also called a Kaizen Event or Rapid Improvement Event) is the most powerful short-format improvement methodology ever developed. Pioneered at Toyota and later adopted by Boeing, GE, and hundreds of manufacturers globally, it compresses a complete PDCA improvement cycle — Problem Definition, Root Cause Analysis, Solution Design, Implementation, and Measurement — into five focused days. Unlike training-room simulations, this programme embeds participants directly in a Japanese partner manufacturing facility. On Day 1, teams identify a real production bottleneck or waste point with the facility manager. By Day 4, they have physically implemented the solution. On Day 5, they measure the results and present them to facility leadership. Participants return home not just with knowledge, but with a verified, documented Kaizen Blitz result they can show their own management.

Requirements

At least 2 years in an operations, quality, engineering, or process management role.
Basic familiarity with process flowcharting (full Lean training is not required).
Physical ability to work in a factory environment for extended periods.

Process Problem Identification

Participants identify one specific process problem or waste point in their home organisation — a bottleneck, defect source, or unnecessary step — and document it with basic data. This real problem is used as parallel analysis material during Day 2.

During Program

Live Factory Kaizen Blitz

Five full days embedded in a Japanese manufacturing facility: problem charter, root cause analysis, solution design, physical implementation, and Day 5 results presentation to factory management.

After Program

First Home Organisation Blitz

Participants lead their first independent Kaizen Blitz in their own facility within 60 days, document results, and share them in a group debrief call with the programme facilitator and peer cohort.

Nomination Eligibility

This programme is designed for professionals nominated by their organisations to undergo specialised training in Japan. Nominees should have organisational sponsorship and a clear mandate to apply the learnings upon return.
