Overview
Japan has 29% of its population over 65 — the highest ratio in the world — and has built a comprehensive Kaigo (care) system combining residential facilities, day-care centres, home-visit nursing, and digital health monitoring. This programme visits Kaigo facilities, reviews the long-term care insurance framework, and draws direct lessons for Gulf states whose elderly populations are projected to grow significantly by 2040.
Program Objectives
- Understand the structure and financing of Japan long-term care system.
- Analyse the CCIS (Community-based Integrated Care System) model.
- Design an elderly care policy framework applicable to Gulf societies.
