Overview
Poka-Yoke (mistake proofing) was invented for manufacturing but Japan has applied it successfully in passport offices, emergency rooms, train stations, and tax bureaux. This programme teaches participants to analyse service processes for failure points, design physical and digital error-proofing mechanisms, and measure defect reduction. Includes site visits to Japanese public-service facilities.
Program Objectives
- Apply Poka-Yoke principles to service process design.
- Identify error-prone steps in government and healthcare workflows.
- Design simple low-cost mistake-proofing solutions.
